SORBITOL — a white crystalline substance of natural origin with a sweet flavour. It is found in apples, pears and peaches. It serves as a sugar substitute for diabetics and is also included in toothpastes. Slows the drying of toothpaste. Widely used in toothpastes as a sweetener, moisture regulating component with a weak stimulating effect on salivation. Sorbitol in toothpaste plays the role of anti-caries component. In order to protect teeth from caries, sorbitol is also included in mouthwashes and used in the production of chewing gums. Caries prevention when using paste with sorbitol is achieved due to its ability to inhibit the production of carious bacteria in the oral cavity. Another positive quality of sorbitol when included in toothpastes is that the substance increases the production of saliva. Saliva provides natural remineralisation of tooth enamel, that is, it replenishes its mineral balance, saturating it with calcium and phosphorus. In addition to sorbitol, xylitol is added to toothpastes as an anti-caries agent.
XYLITOL — is a naturally occurring sweetener used in diabetic and dental products. Xylitol is found in berries and fruits, hardwoods and corn cobs. Xylitol is beneficial to tooth enamel. This is due to the fact that xylitol is not digested by bacteria causing caries, reduces their number, restores the acid-alkaline balance and normal microflora in the oral cavity. The effectiveness of xylitol in caries prevention is not only due to the fact that the bacteria living in the mouth cannot digest it. It turned out that it is able to negatively affect the cariesogenic microorganisms themselves — Streptococcus mutans. Xylitol is embedded in their cells and disrupts their metabolism. The bacteria stop growing and lose the ability to produce acids harmful to teeth. Xylitol also helps the absorption of minerals: calcium and fluoride. Due to these benefits, xylitol is often added to the composition of chewing gums and dental products. This sweetener stops tooth decay and remineralises tooth enamel, improving overall oral health by more than 50%. SODIUM LAUROYL GLUTAMATE — natural and mild surfactant based on amino acids, used in cosmetics and personal care products. Environmentally friendly. A good alternative to stronger cleansers such as SLS. Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is a derivative of natural glutamic acid, lauric acid (a fatty acid derived from renewable plant resources) and sodium. It forms a thick foam and effectively removes dirt without causing irritation. Ideal for sensitive gums! It also reduces the surface tension of the liquid medium in the oral cavity, allowing the active ingredients of the toothpaste to contact the teeth more effectively.
CORN STARCH (Zea Mays) — a white powdery substance obtained from corn kernels. The component is widely used in various industries, including food and pharmaceuticals. Corn starch is added to cosmetics because of its adsorbing, thickening, conditioning and mattifying properties. In oral hygiene products, corn starch acts as an abrasive — the ingredient acts as a mild abrasive in toothpaste, helping to remove plaque and surface stains from teeth. It improves the consistency of toothpaste, giving it the desired viscosity and stability. Cornstarch binds ingredients in toothpaste formulations, ensuring even distribution of active ingredients.
